NTP Show in Phoenix a Success

It was sunny skies outside and sunny outlooks inside for RV aftermarket retailers and other attendees at the recent NTP Distribution show in Phoenix.

The three-day show in late February drew about 450 dealers from across the country, according to Collette Sanftleben, Marketing Manager for NTP. This year’s registration numbers exceeded the company’s pre-registration goal and that NTP continued to receive registrations at the show.

This year’s NTP show featured about 170 exhibitors, up from roughly 150 the previous year. Notably, showroom floor space for this year’s show increased to 70,000 square feet, up from about 55,000 square feet at the 2005 show. David Robinson, Director of Vendor Relations said NTP added a number of vendors at this year’s show, including Hydralift, maker of a hydraulic motorcycle lift; Sunforce, which manufactures a wind generator product; and JT RV Products, maker of the StrongArm Stabilizer Jack.

NTP made a number of changes to this year’s show, including expanded show floor hours. “This year, our management seminars were more tightly focused on fundamental parts and service issues. To account for more show hours, we have tightened the time on our vendor workshops to answer the need for more show floor hours,” according to Mark Jenson, Vice President – Sales & Marketing at NTP.

NTP is committed to making education at the dealer level a priority at its shows, Jenson said, who noted the company made a $20,000 pledge to the RVDA’s RV Learning Center at the show. Ronnie Hepp was there on behalf of RVDA to accept the pledge during the awards banquet Wednesday evening at the Hyatt.

“This is one thing we think makes our event stand out is because our intent is to focus is more educational in nature and less pressured for sales,” he said. “Our long-term goal is to truly make it a must-attend event by offering key and timely information to our dealers that will help them be more successful, presentable and professional.

Dealers responded favorably to the show, based upon initial survey responses. Sanftleben said dealers rated the show a 4.3 on a 5-point scale for factors such as the Phoenix location, workshops, exhibit floor and conference events.

NTP is already starting to make preparations for its 2007 show, which is scheduled for late February at the newly built Phoenix Convention Plaza, across the street from the Hyatt Regency where the 2006 show was held.
